I turned 37 and while I had planned this really fun outing with friends to a hot springs resort, I came down with bronchitis and had to nix that event. My birthday was kind of turning out to be a big bummer so I took myself to the massage college in town and had a hot stone massage (my favorite kind) for a ridiculous deal of $30. It was wonderful and I felt so much better afterwards. I love the way the hot stones warm you all the way to your bones. I am chronically cold all winter long. I also got to go out to Ninja and Garden House. So no cooking for me that day. YAY!
Valentines Day came and I cooked a nice dinner for Tom. I don't think I need to have some big amazing Valentine's event and I like cookiong up a good seafood meal for my hubby and my family. We had a marinated salmon, shrimp and seafood ravioli in a lemon butter sauce and cream of artichoke soup. So tasty. I fed the kids and then Tom and I go to the dining room and eat alone. Honestly sometimes just eating without dealing with the disgusting manners of our children is romance enough.
Dessert was a little something like this. We were too full to eat it.
My Cook and Taste weekend for Alive! Utah was a great success. I loved it and so did everyone else. We already have people calling and begging to sign up for the next event which is already in the planning for Mother's Day Weekend in May. I took the chocolate class which was a lot of fun.
Look what I learned how to make.
I know you all want me to make this for your birthday now.
I did not take this photo. My friend photographer friend owner of bloomshoot photography took it.
Isaac got his second rank of scouting passed off by the skin of his teeth. We have amazing scout leaders in this ward that help him. This weekend he got to go ice fishing and had so much fun.
Lia is starting to read finally.
Becca started taking crossfit kids and is still loving it. It is really hard work and I thought for sure she would want to quit by now. She always quits sports when the going gets hard but she is hanging in there. I think she enjoys the competiveness of it. She is my most competitve child.
I am trying to get on an exercise schedule. 2 days of zumba a week, one day of vigorous walking and 1 day of yoga each week. That is the goal and if I can stay well longer than a week I am sticking to it.
Tom is knee deep in tax season and we only see him on Sundays or when his band comes to practice in the basement.
I am desperate for spring. DESPERATE. I hate winter with a passion and I am ready to see some green. Bring on little sprigs of green March.
That's it -- a little boring post but a super busy month.
