Talkative Tuesday

I really should be working on Halloween costumes or folding clothes but this sounds more fun right now. I really had a great visit with my Mom. Being with her for a week reminded my how great it is to be not only her daughter but a daughter of my Heavenly Father. Hanging around with my Mom for a week really made me remember my worth. I really hope I can be that kind of mother someday. I hope I make my children see their potential even when they are grown adults. My time with her also reminded me how great it is to have daughters. Thanks Mom for a great week.

The day before my Mom left I took my kids and Mom out to Parowan Gap. Our family has already visited this spot, but my Mom loves Native Indian stuff. Maybe that is why this place fascinates me so much. Maybe it is the fact that I love learning about different cultures and languages and now that I understand the petroglyphs meaning a little better, I wanted to go investigate again. My Mom had a blast reading the book as we checked out the ancient writings and she even got adventerous and hiked up to see some of the petroglyphs (It was not a big hike) but it was good to see her get so excited about something that she was willing to step over gigantic sage brush bushes or around thorny weeds. My kids really love this place too.

We knew this Indian face rock was at Parowan Gap somewhere becuase of our little trusty book guide. We were ridiculously excited when we finally found it.

Last night we started carving pumpkins. I say started because I decided to indulge my husband's love of pumpkin seeds, my children's glee at picking out pumpkins and the farmer's market pumpkin guys' cheap prices by buying a lot of pumpkins this year. This is Tom's night with the kids. I just take pictures and Ooh and Ahh over the pumpkin creations that get progressively better every year. I don't have to do anything, so who cares how many pumpkins we get. I may have indulged too far. I already have those nine bat pumpkins on my porch. Now I will have nine to ten jack-o-lanterns by Halloween.

Isaac carved the vampire by himself (with a template)and I have to say I am totally impressed at his carving prowess. He was pretty shocked himself.

Today I got to go to my writing group. I love these gals. They totally motivated me to take a brave step with one of my stories. And I am going to do it. I also got to have a very yummy salad, which got me back on track with my diet. I did not exercise or eat well the week my Mom was here. I am going to get back to salad or soup for lunch everyday. I really can't count the day I had soup at the garden house, because I also had brie and salad and a french dip sandwich. Ugh! This is basically how I ate all week. Way too much food.

Well my kids are home from school and I have got to get those costumes done before we leave for gymnastics and the library tonight.

I love the Gap also. Being a Paorwan native, I also have a lot of really creepy stories and ghost tales about that place. I have good friend that eventually commited suicide because an experience he had there-creepy! It's great in the daytime though. This week is so crazy busy for me, I hope I get around to carving pumpkins sometime! I also have 10 waiting to be carved-ahhh!
